Targoz Conducts Latest JMI Poll of Florida Voters for the James Madison Institute
Targoz Market Research conducted the latest JMI Poll of Florida Voters for the James Madison Institute. The statewide online survey of 1,200 registered Florida voters was fielded February 13–16, 2026.
The poll measured Florida voters’ views on cost of living, housing affordability, property taxes, education, economic pressures, and the early landscape for the 2026 elections.
Cost of living emerged as the top concern among Florida voters, cited by 41% of respondents. The survey also found that 66% of voters were concerned about being able to afford their home given rising property taxes and housing costs.
On property taxes, 65% of Florida voters said they would support a constitutional amendment to significantly reduce or eliminate property taxes, while 15% opposed it.
The poll also tested a hypothetical 2026 gubernatorial matchup. In that scenario, Republican Byron Donalds led Democrat David Jolly 36% to 32%, with independent state Sen. Jason Pizzo at 4%. Among Republican voters asked about the GOP primary field, First Lady Casey DeSantis led Donalds 26% to 23%, with former House Speaker Paul Renner at 7%.
